OLM Scholarship Winners AnnouncedErika Hawkins of Fayetteville is the winner of the first J-93.3 Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School Scholarship Essay Contest. Erika's selection for a full scholarship and the four other finalist who joined her as scholarship winners were based on her essay performance. The essay topic was "In a world that tries to keep God out of the public eye, how does Christian radio keep God in everyday life and why it's important to me."

Joining Erika as finalists are Christopher Hunt from College Park, Keyanna Roberts of Peachtree City, Alexa Whitaker from Alpharetta, and Zakiya Williams of Riverdale. All finalists received a 25% scholarship award.

JoAnn McPherson, Assistant Principal, and J-93.3's Jerry Brannon praised the group for their essays, academic accomplishments, and overall student performance. Together they make an impressive group of students.

It has been a priviledge to work with Danny Dorsel and the incredible OLM faculty and administration. They are to be commended for granting over $20,000 in scholarship funding to these students. Most gratifying of all was to read the essays and enjoy the insights of these young people.

How can we thank you enough for investing in the lives of almost 1,000 children? When children are hungry here in America, help is available from a number of places. In the AIDS ravaged country of Mozambique, there are orphans who roam the streets looking for food, clothing and a safe place to sleep. The government doesn’t help them. They are left to fend for themselves, except for those you've helped this week. Thanks to you, almost 1,000 children will get the help they need to move into a home.

It's hard to believe, but for a one-time gift of $68, Cross International can rescue a child and place them into a loving Christian home. Cross works with local pastors in Mozambique, has already identified the orphans in most critical need, and identified families who are willing to take in another child. Your one-time gift of $68 is the bridge that brings them together. You can change a life of one of God’s precious little ones on the other side of the world.

If you called or clicked through to help us, please accept our sincere thanks. If you didn't, but want to help us right now to change the lives of 1,000 fragile Mozambique children, please CLICK HERE and be sure to select WVFJ-FM, Atlanta as your radio station!
